Leaving early on Friday morning, we took a Eurolines Bus, across the Eurotunnel, and into Belgium! We stayed at the Lybeer Travellers' Hostel-- it was very clean, super friendly staff, and was centrally located in Brugge... couldn't have asked for anything better!
After getting settled in at the hostel, we walked all around Brugge!! This historic city was so much fun to explore!! There are tons of charming shop fronts, beautiful picturesque scenes, cobblestone streets, and countless CHOCOLATE stores!!
Here are some more pictures from walking around... it was like out of a fairy tale it was so perfect!!!!
For dinner, we had Bocca-- pasta in a box!! And stopped at a chocolate shop for some goodies too!! Everything closed super early there, so by 6pm, everything was shut down for the day! It was crazy... but also super charming and fun to walk around in the evening when everything was deserted!
Saturday may have been the best food day of my life thus far!! =) It started off with waffles from Chez Albert which where warm and covered in chocolate and whipped cream and absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!
Next we went to a market, where I bought a painting that I am very excited about! It was very cold outside, but so terrific just to walk around in this fantastic city for the morning!! After we were frozen to the core, we stopped in at SOUP for lunch!! We had a terrific meal, and I also enjoyed my first Belgian Hot Chocolate!! =)
In the afternoon we explored the Choco-Story Chocolate Museum!! We walked through the entire history of Chocolate since the Aztecs, and even got to see a demonstration at the end... and a few taste tests too!
These were all made out of chocolate!!!
After shopping around town, we crashed back at the hostel for a little while to warm up and get our game plan together! We ended up at a cozy upstairs restaurant for dinner that was absolutely delightful! It was a fantastic meal with great company too! =)
And how else did we end the evening, but with warm Belgian waffles!! (seriously, my new favorite food ever!!!!!!)
We finished off our Brugge trip with lunch at Lizzie's Wafels!! It was SO GOOD!!!! I cannot even begin to express.... a giant waffle, with hot caramel, and hot chocolate... I was in heaven!!!! =)
What a weekend!!!
I hope you have enjoyed this taste of Brugge, Belgium!! =)
